Why Check Website Age?

There are tools to check the age of a domain. Our tool, however, does not focus on the time a domain name (such as yourdomain.com) has been around. What we focus on, is determining the approximate date a website has been published. This information comes in handy e.g. when you’re an IT services provider, or a web designer, looking for prospects with homepages in need of an update. Or maybe you’re just curious to find out the age of your competitor’s website, or those of your own.

How It Works

Website age is determined by scanning certain factors in the site. The checker scans through the HTML markup and content to find indicators of site age. The estimation might be thrown off by web page caching, CDN’s or static site builders that regenerate the site often. However, we do our best in optimizing the tool to provide as reliable results as possible. Note! Make sure to provide the URL in full form (with http(s):// prefix) for the page you wish to scan. The scan is performed for the given URL, not for the whole domain by default.

All WAC products have been developed by Verkkovaraani in 2020. Check out also our Bulk Search, which lets you scan a whole list of URLs at once.
